I believe even without any web services experience, you should be able to prepare for SCDJWS. It's just you might need to spend more effort to study for it.

Why would you want to get SCDJWS without practical knowledge?

For me it's going to be complementary to my current work, because I want to have a more thorough understanding.

Hi,

I think no Sun certification required the practical experience. It is up to you for what purpose you are taking the exam. I think it is one of the way to test your knowledge on the topics on which you have not work. Passing the exam is not important, but it is important how you satisfied with your own preparation.

Thanks

Clearing the cert won't make you well-versed in Java web services, but you will have a good foundation to start with. In other words, you still need some practical knowledge.

I think that it's much easier to prepare for Sun's exams if you have practical experience with the concepts before you sit down for the test itself. There's just something about having real-world experience that makes the preparation that much easier.
