Finally m done with this exam.Got around 88%.I am very much satisfied.
Well these are the steps I followed:

Step 1: obviously first step was to look for some good book...had heard alot about RMH but cudnt get its soft copy.So i went for some Watsh Rajneesh pdf which was available online......that was a risk but it paid off.....its a concise form of all what is required in the exam.....i opted for reading some 300 pages rather going for some 900 pages of RMH.....mind you, you should be having some prior knowledge about Web services if you want to opt for this pdf.......so I read the whole pdf....it took me around 10 days(30 pages per day)...

step 2:straightaway jumped to online mock exam available on xyzws.com site......it helped me to judge ma level and analyze my weak and strong areas so that i could stress on ma weak areas next time i read the pdf....did this in office hours only

step3:reread the watsh pdf in parallel with xyzws.com mock exam.....took arnd 4 days.....

step 4 ownloaded MZ notes on scdjws...they were really helpful n moreover were certification oriented only...it took me around 5 days....

step 5:the most important step...downloaded netbeans ide and started practicing all the possible concepts.....for next 7 days i just did programming...my last project also had some web services code so analyzed that code also.....used http://soapclient.com/UDDIAdv.html site to get hands on UDDI....

step 6: downloaded demo versions of whiz labs and other available simulators n solved dm....

step 7: re-read the pdf....by this time i was clear with most of the concepts and ready for the exam.....4 days....

step 8: again did all the mock questions available on xyzws.com site....

step 9: went to pro metric center n gave the exam....the whole process took around 30 days.....

difficulty level of the exam was much below than what i had expected....there were some questions like what is default value of use attribute,what type of encoding are allowed,in ejb which type of bean is used for WS,questions regarding the basic definitions of WSDL,SOAP,UDDI etc etc....they were too many straightforward questions....

special thanks too Peer Reynders who was always der for our rescue and always provided the lucid explanations for all the queries....

P.S : I could see many questions being discussed in this forum in the main exam also...so i suspect the source of these questions being discussed and I hope some action is taken if they come up again

@sumeet

Its not a good practice to use IDE's as they hide many things but as I was having time constraints,I had no other options.

@amit

I never attempted those quizzes in that fashion.I always took them in practice mode with no time constraints.I dont have patience to first of all mark all the answers and than see their solutions.I took them 20 at a time.

Hi all,
I cleared SCJP in 1999 and I dont think it is valid now (please correct). Is this ok for me to take SCDJWS or I have to recertify on SCJP.

Regards

Congratulations, Uday!
Thank you for the valuable information about how you passed.

Can you tell me if you think it was more or less difficult than the SCWCD exam, or about the same?

Thanks!

SCJP is valid for a lifetime. Anybody who has a SCJP can take the SCDJWS exam.

@Bob

Its a difficult question and more or less depends on your area of interest.The biggest difficulty with scdjws exam is the lack of certification oriented material.For scwcd i read manning book which was certification oriented and helped me a lot but for this exam you dont have such a luxury.
Plus during my preparation for WCD I hardly found any topic which were difficult to comprehend but during this exam I had to face many obstacles and had to come to this site only for the rescue.
But as far as the main exam is concerned I found this exam a bit easier.There were too many straight forward questions and even if you had just an overview of all the topics you could have easily answered those questions.
So I think I have confused you a lot .But those were my views and might differ from others.
