Hi to all,
John have requested some more discussion in this forum so here it is.
I have too passed first part of this exam on last Thursday with 81%. The only thing I have to add to his post here is that You read j2ee blueprints and You follow objectives. Objectives do reflect what do You need to know for the exam. Most of the questions present a scenario and then ask You what j2ee technology/component should be used. Their sample questions should exactly give You an idea what is the exam like.
Good luck to all!
Vladan

Congratulations, Vladan!
Have you signed up for part II yet?
I saw your previous post that said the J2EE Blueprints would be a good resource but I decided that I just wanted to get part I out of the way and didn't want to take the time to read another book. Maybe if I had read it I would have done better!
Good luck on part II!
John

Hi John,
I was actually quite surprised that You didn't mention blueprints and now I am even more surprised that You didn't read it. It is some 200+ pages plus example application(which I haven't read yet). The book is free and easy to read and I would say it is a must read for the exam.
Well regarding part 2, I haven't download it yet and I am not in a rush to do it probably for a week or so. My analysis and design skills are weak and I know I need to work on them so first I want to read some 100+ pages that are sitting on my desk. I will probably strugle through the assignment but I guess I will learn something.
Good luck to You on the second part too !
Vladan

Vladan,
If I haven't read something I am hesitant to mention it. If I do say "take a look at this" and the book, article, etc, isn't good then I've wasted your time. So since I hadn't read it I didn't feel I could recommend it as a resource.
There was also that deadline that I set for myself and if I had decided to read the book I wouldn't have met it. I don't necessarily recommend this approach for other people. The more knowledge you have the better you should do on the test.
Is it still possible to download a free version of this? I have gone out to java.sun.com and only find a link to Amazon to buy the book. I'd prefer to review a free version before I go buy it.
John

Sorry,
I think I have badly put that sentence. Actually I was surprised that You haven't used it for Your preparation and not that You didn't mention it. It would've deffinately helped You.
Here is the link and take a look. http://www.javasoft.com/j2ee/download.html
I think Java pet store application that is also there will help You with second part.
Sincerely,
Vladan

Hi! Valada,
Could you please tell me which books u read for this certification? I also wanted to know that reading chapters 3,4,7 thouroughly from O'Reily's EJB book is enough for EJB portion.
And do I need to know details about EJB Object and EJB home in EJB.
Thanks in advance
