Does anybody have any info on the J2EE certification some people seem to have? Ie., is it through Sun? What topics does it cover? Is it one test or more like the Java Dev. certification? If it is a test, is it a basic ~70 questions with ~75% passing or something else? Any info would be greatly appreciated...
I have sent an email to Sun Certification group. Will update with the reply. Also, I was wondering abt this for a long time and since I din't know I was putting off my Developer exam. Some of my friends ask "Why do you want the developer exam. Wait for sometime and Sun will bring out the J2EE" Now, that you asked I finally got the enthu to send them an email. Thanks for asking! - satya
I did some research after posting... bad method I know... research before posting -- not after. Anyhow, I found a line in someone's signature file listing their certifications which I believe led to this question: IBM Enterprise Connectivity with J2EE I would still be interested in hearing what the certification group has to say, Satya. Hi I was just glancing through the Brainbench site and they offer some exam called Java - EJB and the description goes something like this(Copied from the site) Our Java Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) test measures your knowledge of programming using Enterprise Java Beans. Designed for experienced programmers, this test covers the following topics: Architecture, Deployment, Design, Development, Entity Beans, Isolation, Session Beans, and Transactions Surya
Take a look at the Java Architect Certification forum here at the Ranch. It is dedicated to this topic and this is where you can find J2EE discussions. Sean
Not sure this post really belongs in this forum as I was really inquiring about J2EE certification outside of Java Arch. Cert. but sheriffs have got to clean the dirt up at the ranch and this probably falls into someone's definition thereof... Thanks for all the responses above!! OP
To sum up, it appears that the "J2EE Certification" referred to at the start of this thread is probably the Sun Certified Java Architect certification (on which this group is based). Note that SCEA certifications onrequires a detailed knowledge of EJB, not of other portions of J2EE. However, a passing familiarity with other portions of J2EE is required, esp. JMS. Regards, Mark
Sorry, that should've read "Sun Certified Enterprise Architect". The "Sun Certified Java Architect" was the previous architect level certification offered by Sun. The SCEA is apparently an attempt by Sun to make it's architect level certification more meaningful. Mark
