Hi all,
Today I cleared part I of SCEA with 70%. Not a good score but I'm happy with the amount of input I had given for the exam. I'm already SCJD, SCJP with more than 1 and 1/2 yrs of experience. I feel the exam was real COOL I finished the exam in 45 minutes, didn't revise the questions because I had put 100% efforts in answering all of them.
Mah take on the exam:
- I don't think the paper was tough at all. Only required u to logically suggest a design on the basis of requirements of the system
- The overall paper doesn't require u to know the in-depth knowledge of any techonology but the basic features shud be clear to u
- Some questions required u to know abt HTTP & HTTPS ports but in one question they had mentioned the ports along with the protocal name
- The exam is very generic and only with some amount of understanding one can clear it. I don't feel that it requires a good amount of time for preparation. I didn't read any books suggested by most of the people who passed.

I read only John's notes to prepare for the exam. As such I have no J2EE experience but mah concepts abt the distributed application technologies are clear. Had read 2-3 chapters from Monson Haefel long time back (around 6 months)
Didn't read Martin Flower may be in the part II of SCEA i will have a look at it.
In all I spend 7-8 hrs yesterday for preparing for the exam. I think in 8 hrs a person can only pass but not come up with big scores
All the best to people preparing for the exam.

Ashish-
What would you say is the most tricky part of the exam that would require preparing for. You are clearly a genius. Some advice please......
Louis.

Hi Louis,
Sorry to disappoint u but the paper was a cake walk for anyone who knows the concept and has mugged a few things(this is something I missed) Tricky portions were there but that may sound tricky to me as I haven't read many topics ;) Pay special attention to architecture questions as they are long and also to the questions based on security as I got absolute 0 in that. EJB was kewl got 100%. Other portions were also kewl. The onlty thing u have to make sure that u have solid concepts of most of the topics rest u can do without much efforts.
Hope this helps.
