Hi all, Our organization is on the crossroads where it needs to decide which platform to choose for its future web applications. obviously this has sparked off a sort of debate among Windows and Unix supporters. I would like to get opinions from this forum regarding pros and cons of having one or the other. We already have the infrastructure for Windows (NT/2000) and Unix (IBM AIX). so the hardware cost is not really a factor. also we know that our apps will be written in JSP (and not ASP). Web admins are leaning towards Windows (their OS of choice). some of the factors that come to my mind are 1) Reliability 2) Security 3) Performance 4) Scalability 5) Load balancing 6) Managability 7) Web servers compatibility 8) Availability of IDEs 9) Upgrading client machines to Windows XP in future Personally I prefer unix and I think unix scores over Windows in most of these aspects but I'm looking at some more specifics. Also it would help me make my conscience clear that I'm not biased towards unix. any comments/feedback would be appreciated. If anyone can refer me to any useful link(s) that would be very helpful. thanks, Girish.
