I checked both at Barnes and Noble store and Borders, but they don't seem to have the book yet. They say that they have placed an order on the book and should arrive sometime during the end of this week.

I have the book. While I haven't read it all yet, I have a few comments.
First off, I think it will be very valuable at helping to narrow the scope of what one should study. Looking at different lists of study materials, a person could easily end up with 5 or 6 large books, plus tons of web sites. The book narrows things down a bit. For instance, the GOF design pattern book is hundreds of pages; this book has a concise 40 pages on patterns.
This book makes it clear that it alone is not enough to pass the exam. You will need to read and study other stuff also.
A coworker of mine who has passed SCEA said the "Case Study" section would be helpful so you know what level of detail is appropriate for some of the diagrams.
My last comment is that I expected this book to be huge with a tiny font. It is pretty light with a large font. Again, it's more of a guide book than a single book that tells you everything, as the SCJP books do.

Well every individual has different prespective when preparing for exam. I see this an opportunity to learn new areas and read few good books one always wanted but somehow could not do it. Specially GOF book on patterns is an excellent source one should consider reading it, if objective is to learn in depth patterns (which is not required for exam but required for an enterprise archiect). Exam Guides are very helpful in narrowing the scope of reading material for exam prepration. But they also gives less depth of subject due to very focused contents (prepration for exam). So it has it's benifit and limitations.

How useful will the book be for the Architect exam? Does it cover in detail topics like Common Architectures, Legacy connectivity, protocols and security. These are the topics I found difficult since there is not much material available online and the questions from those topics are scenario based. Does the book give scenario based explaination to all the objectives? Feedback from all those who have this book would be appreciated.

I've received it yesterday from Amazon.
This book is definitely useful for those posting questions here asking what is the scope of SCEJA exam and what kind of materials are required.
For those exam-oriented people, the $39.99 price tag is worthy, IMHO.

Hi,
I've bought the book in a local bookstore.
As mentioned by Mitchner and Vijay, I find that the book give you a good guide on the area you should read on.
The information is given briefly enough for you to know what is it about.
But you should read on other source to give you a better idea or probably build some samples on the topics mentioned.
On the whole, it should help you to narrow the scope, but not enough to get the necessary knowledge with only one book.
Just my opinion.

it is not an architect version of the programmer study guide.
the authors had a hard time filling those 220 pages of the book (you know, this exam does not cover much material!!). they had to use large font and reprint the sun success guide in it.
first impression of the book is that it is a ripoff. maybe it will change as i read more of it.

I got this book from amazon.com yesterday. One good thing about this is that it is a very thin book. This means you got to read less to pass the exam. I browsed through the book and found that it is very well structured. It tells you what topic of the exam is covered and how much to care about each topic. Whenever necessary, there is reference to other reading material.
It can be used as a reference book for to-the-point learning for architect exam's objectives.

I bought the book two weeks back.The book is useless.You are not going gain any knowledge from that book.Only to find out what are the portion you need to study for the exam. I am realy upset after buying the book.(may be expectation was high).

Looks like lot of different people have different views about this book.
My understanding about this book is : Covers the in-out scope of the SCEA exam, have to read other books to add to the massive content of individual scope topics.
I am hoping to visit the B&N this weekend and hopefully they have the book in their location. Will add my comments later.

Yesterday i bought this book from borders, I find the book not worthy. The posts in this site and files by wetherbie etc., are much of use. I wonder whether they really covered the topics like legacy connectivity, etc. If you feel any thing that is going to be useful from the book.. it is the case study for part II .
I personally suggest dont waste time and money for this book.
