I saw some interesting discussion on removing the password protection of PDF files so you can print it, like Ed Roman's Master EJB book.
Fact is, there is a software which will do that job for you. But the programmer of that software, a Russian guy, was arrested by FBI because of that. And that software was not available now.
It is a violation of copywrite law. I believe there are some talented programmers here who can crack down the security of PDF. Just a reminder if you can do that, do it by yourself and don't send it around. You never know when an FBI agent will knock at your door.

On pdf. Sometimes the menu saveas or print is disabled but the icons are enabled- you could try that.

Take help of search engine. There are a lot of people offering lost password recovery service, especially for PDF.

Hi!!!
If you want to print non-printable version of a PDF document, you can do it in two ways:
1. by removing master-password from this document.
2. by patching Acrobat Reader program (AcroRd32.exe file).
But it's illegal of course. Remember, you break the law, doing that.

Regards,
Mariusz

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
