I have used the community edition (free) of Poseidon for UML It is relatively easy. However, the free ed does not have export function, so you need to do your own shift-PrtSc/paste. Gentleware - Tools for Developers
Hi Rufus, Why don't you try TogetherJ. I like it because you have a great option to see Java code when you draw a class diagramm (Rational doesn't have that feature - you have to generate code using existing diagram). The second thing - they have very good tutorial based on viewlets. Check www.togethersoft.com.
I have not downloaded the assignment yet. Are there any specific requirements as to how the class diagram, sequence diagrams and supporting material are to be submitted? Could I do the assignment in PowerPoint? I already know PowerPoint and could hack some simple UML Diagrams out with it, no problema. This seems easier than jacking around with a new tool.
