I passed SCEA part I with more than 80%. My feeling is the exam is relatively simple. You don't need to know much in-depth details of every parts. But a clear concept is very important. The Sun's Study guide book is a good guide, John's notes is good too. If you can read the following books:
1. Enterprise EJB O'Reilly (first few chapters)
2. UML Distilled
3. Design Patterns by GOF
you will have more than enough to pass the exam.
Other parts like I18N, protocol, security, just pick some general reading will be enough.
Good luck to you guys.
