Friends,
In my previous post -- here: https://coderanch.com/t/150690/java-Architect-SCEA/certification/Passed-Part-SCEA-EE
you read something contrary to this, but this - I also got from Sun (today).
So now you need to decide when you want to take SCEA Part 1!
Sorry for the confusion!

Hello,
We require all candidates to pass all parts of this exam using the same version
of the test. This means that yes, you will have to re-test for part I of this
exam if you wish to become certified in the most recent version. We thank you
for your understanding in this matter.
Best Regards,
Lisa Moler

That is really annoying. I've got an exam date and am now in two minds cancelling as i dont want to have to sit this twice (and there is the cost involved). Is the next version available yet and if not are there any timescales???

<rumour>
Supposedly spring next year, but who can tell?
Note that re-certification will apparently be a multi-choice exam which concentrates on the areas that have changed.

No, the current exam will still be available for a while, and the certification will be "valid" for 2 years (I believe).
There was an interview with the guy in charge of certification at Sun recently, which gives more details --
