Hello,
I have about 6 years of software experience, almost three years of it in Java. Worked with EJBs for some time, but most of my work has been with JSPs, Servlets and web applications. Got two certifications SCJP and SCWCD along the way. I am now contemplating the SCEA certification. Looked at the objectives, and the three parts of the process to get certified. I've been party to some design sessions in my shop, but have never actually carried out the task of designing an application by myself. Given this background, would it be beneficial for me to go for the SCEA? Or do you think I should wait for some more time, till I get some hands on experience in designing J2EE applications? Any guidance would be really appreciated. Thanks.
-Bala.

Hi Bala, I would go for it. The assignment in part II is a good way of getting hands on experience in designing and architecting a J2EE application. I have similar work experience as you. Recently cleared the part I (87%) and am excited about starting work on part II. I've definitely learned a thing or two on part I and am sure will learn something while doing part II.
Regards,
Nehal.
