Pradeep,
Horizontal scaling is achieved by adding machines to a cluster, thus requires additional intelligence to communicate all those machines to work as one.
On the other hand, vertical scaling does not requires much intelligence. Think about puting more memore in your computer, you don't need to re-configure any of your existing applications.
