Dear All,
Dear Friends,
You'll be glad to know that Sun announced 4oo vouchers for Sun Certified Business Component Developer Beta Exam (when I filled the form it told that this is SCEA 1.4 beta exam). You must be SCJP to appear the exam. I got a phone call from my friend Anwar and filled the form just 10 minutes earlier. I received a mail confirming that I'll get all th details at May 19. Sun was calling it Sun Certified Business Component Developer Beta Exam. Rush for the URL -

Where can I obtain the objective list to this exam???
Sun says:

Beta starts June 6 and closes after the first 400 exams are completed.
So, I think everybody who filled the form will win a free voucher, but this voucher will be valid until the first 400 people submit for this exam at a Prometric School.
Take a look at the message bellow:

Free exam vouchers are given out on a first come, first serve basis and are
valid ONLY for the FIRST 400 CANDIDATES WHO TAKE THE EXAM. If you want to
participate, don't delay!

To appear this exam, you must be SCJP. If you are already an SCJP, you got a prometric test id from your testing center before appearing the SCJP exam. You have to use that one.

The test id is labeled as CANDIDATE ID at your score report.
It begins with SP and is followed by 7 digits.

Testing Id is usually the SSN.
Mail from Sun says...Please allow five business days to receive your electronic voucher and test objectives.

Did anybody already receive voucher from Sun ?

I think Java Ranch should add one more forum for this certification... because we don't know where to discuss once we have the objectives. or ..
in this forum ?

On the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/scbcd/ site set up by Sarin, Sarin has kindly posted a sun survey which may have been used to determine the exam objectives. If this is the case (we will find out soon enough), everything revolves around EJB. A good book would be Ed Romans, 'Mastering EJBs'. Books on Architecture may be overkill.

Dear Gus Mus, you'll find a proposal for an SCBCD forum in JavaRanch Forum
Dear Ramon, we can't miss the name of O'Reilly EJB 2.0 book.

If my understanding of the exam signup page is correct, then the first 400 developers to sit and pass the exam will get the certification?
So if youre the 401st person to pass the exam tough luck.
This poses the question whether there will be quotas by time zone?
Consider that the earliest you can sit the exam is June 6th. So to stand the best chance being the one of the first 400 you would have to register and sit the exam on the 6th.
If thats the case and as other countries in other timezones hit the 6th first ie (New Zealand, China, Austrailia, India), Sun could have their first 400 passes before developers in other countries such as the UK/US/Canada have even woke up to sit the exam!
Cheers,
Mark

I haven't got my voucher yet (in the US).
I was not aware that it'll start on June 6th and not immediately. That gives me some time to get ready. Also, a good point from Mark regarding time zones. Taking time zones into account, I think all the 400 test-takers will be from Asia.

Well,
I feel we should scroll around JavaRanch to know the reported number of people who appeared in the SCBCD beta. So I propose whnever someone appears the beta exam starting from 6th June, just give a post in the EJB Certification forum with the info that Reported in JR#1, Reported in JR#100, Reported in JR#250 etc.
I know there will be people who dont come to JavaRanch, still we may have an idea that Reported in JR#150 may indicate that probably around 250 people have already appeared the exam. Just a guess, yet something is better than nothing
