Patterns and Part I of SCEA

Greetings from beautiful Sandy Springs, Georgia. Without giving away very much, can some of you who have passed the SCEA Part I let me know how much you *really* need to know about patterns? I am conversant and understand the most common ones, but for things like Interpreter, Visitor (and some others), do you really need to know those inside and out?

It is better that you know the purpose of the pattern and examples for the pattern

I believe Sun has listed about 15 patterns for J2EE. Knowing these is quite enough for the exam.
