Stateful Session Bean EJB Passivate question

Does the bean provider explicitly have to set the references to SessionContext and UserTransaction to null in the ejbPassivate or does the container do it?
Are these two fields serialized also?

though they are not serializable(they do not implements sirializable interface),but J2EE container can recognize then,so the J2ee spec says that all the container should serialize the following objects although they are not serializable:
EJB home reference,
EJB object reference,
UserTransaction
SessionContext
