i completed part 1 about 8-9 months ago with a 93%. i worked on part 2 thereafter and have about 50% of it done. however, i stopped working on it 6 months ago because i was tired of the hours of analyzing the problem without getting much done, question the value of having it (job market does not seem to care for it or even know what it is) & i really didn't want to go home after a long day of work & start working on it. i picked up a few hobbies outside of software engineering that i enjoy after work. should i forget about part 2 & part 3 of the SCEA or should i put in the effort & try to wrap it up in a month & submit whatever i have then?

Guys,
Do not worry that much. It's just a darn assignment after all. Get something done as fast as possible and move on. Think about it: Sun wants as many certified people as possible. You have passed the difficult part(Step 1). The odds are that Sun will not fail you just for a minor flaw in the design. So any acceptable design should pass the exam. I would not worry about the number of classes, the level of detail, lack of requirements and such.
Given the fact that the evaluators do not have the opportunity to interview candidates, they will be as generous as possible. So my personal opinion is to scratch something down, document it and move on to normal life. As to whether people know or care about the certifications, go to monster.com and search for "Sun Certified Enterprise Architect". You will see if they do.
Take it easy,

Hi,
I did a search on Sun Certified and found exactly 1 job!!! It was from mid-august and was for a sun certified java programmer!
I think certifications will give you an edge if you don't have experience or much experience. And if it is between multiple canidates with the same qualifications. One went the extra mile and got certification! That means to an employer that this person keeps up with current trends and is interested and self-motivated when it comes to learning which is very important in the IT field.

That's exaclty what I meant! (BTW in my search that day they had 30 jojs). Looks like the moral of the story is that if they hire they prefer certified + experienced. Next comes experienced (no cert). Third is certified only. Forth is no exp, no cert. If they do not hire, hey you can't do much with anything.
So, take it easy
