Hi,
i think about to make the scea certification and have some questions about it.
1. What is the best way to start it? (I have the book from paul allen) How much effort is it to take the multiple choice exam? What about the degree of difficulty of the project? Is it realistic to pass the exam without extra help from a trainer or something else? How long should a plan for the preparation?
2. There exists a accerlation package from sun (some courses). Has anybody experience with it?
3. Is such a certificate useful in the career?

If you are asking about the courses Sun mentions on their website as recommended courses for the SCEA, then I dont suggest them. I took couple of them and found them no use to the exams. They dont help for this exams in any way.

Mike:
Architect certification is the highest level of certification by SUN for J2EE technologies. Once you prepare for this exam and go through all the books and reading as suggested by the exam objectives, you expand your horizon to think like an enterprise architect. To answer your question if it will be useful to your career, I think that the architect certification provides you with the knowledge, and skills of the design aspect of the J2EE application and helps you to understand the bigger picture. If your career is into J2EE development, this certification combined with your soft skills can make a difference in your career.
You have reached to the best way to begin your prepration of SCEA. Go through the earlier posts and you will know what to do.
Good Luck
