is it common to use applet nowadays?  RSS feed

quite surprised that scea concerns about applet, especially for its security, but how often do we actually use applet in our applications?
I have been always using jsp/servlet to do all the procession and never written a single applet......

I think Applet is still a viable approach for intranet/extranet.

To me it is only useful to collect non-text input from client side, such as mouse-movement/drawing or others through native interface like thumb print or vedio recording(of course for signed applet)......
Could anyone suggest other valuable usage of applets?
