I'm working on SCEA and am about 2/3rds of the way through my first intensive pass through learning the 23 GoF design patterns. I'm using the Cade/Roberts study guide, Cooper's online Design Patterns Java Companion, the examples and fluffycat.com and the Shalloway/Trott 'Design Patterns Explained' book so far. I think I'm at the point where I need to get the GoF book and a book on UML. With regards to the UML book, at this point it's a toss-up between Larman's "Applying UML and Patterns" and Martin Fowler's "UML Distilled". I'm thinking that I want a book that will best complement the GoF book and at the same time help me with the SCEA's UML objectives. Suggestions anyone?

Thanks in advance!

Jeff, for part 1, those stuffs which you mentioned above are good enough for the UML and design patterns.

For part 2, you need to look into J2EE Design Patterns.
