Hello to all of u Folks....
Just returning from part 1 of SCEA. Was able to squeeze pass with 83%. I had set my targets up above in the 90s, as I collected many mock questions and recommended resources and expected to find the questions from this vast pool. The biggest chunk of my question bank was from Whizlabs (I bought the product)
However, I was in for a surprise (Fortunately it did not turn out to be a bitter one, in the end!). The questions were all different and I cannot recall a single common one from design patterns, securities, Legacy connectivity & common architecture. (That does not mean that there were no easy question, all I mean is, they were not from the question pool I prepared). In several questions there were options which were quite close, and making a selection was difficult. I had to bank upon the elimination policy on many occasions.
Anyway, all's well the end's well.
Thank to all of u for providing assistance and support. Java ranch surely is the best forum for certificate aspirants.

Hey Gautam,

Congratulations on clearing the exam. This exam is the hardest in the Sun cert series and if you cleared, it is definitely worth partying!!

Thanks for the tips. Can you give an approximate weightage/number of questions from each of the objectives. Also, in UML, do we have to interpret diagrams or are there theoritical questions?

Congratulations once more!

Hello, I've passed first part last friday with 72% score (i'have expected result above 80%) and also was surprised about questions. I have only one concrete question about i18n, and other questions was different from i've met in the internet. Other questions was like - describing some problem or task and choose appropriate answers. I also can't say that's exam was difficult, but it was different than i expected.
