Layering
(in Paul & Bambara page 36 says)

Bi-directional-layered systems provide & procure major services at their upper and lower sides.
Unidirectional-layered systems procure major services in one direction while providing major services in the opposite direction.

I do not have clue what it means. need your comments.

Thanks & Regards,
Sanjeev.

Hi Sanjeev,
This is a vey bad case of gobbledegook !!

I think it means a bi-directional layer can 'provide' services to the layers on either side, plus 'access' services on both of the ajoining layers.

A uni-directional layer can 'access' services in one direction only, while providing a service in the opposite direction.

Hope I've reduced the gobbledegook.

Ray,

Thanks for the your comments. It's comparatively easy to understand the concept now.
I need time to accept the concept. I mean may be I need an example.
But thanks a lot for your comments.

Regards,
Sanjeev.
