Hi everybody,

I just passed SCEA part 1 and now is preparing for Part 2 and 3. My assignment is FBN. However, I am just a Final Year Student and my experience in designing J2EE application is very limited. My plan to approcach this assignment is first: read UML Distilled, Core J2EE patterns, study Petstore carefully then start designing my assignment.

Part of the preparation, I am studying Petstore in Sun website. I have downloaded the code and run successfully. However, I could not find the requirements for the Petstore, what exactly the application is supposed to do. I think I will be able to learn much more about this application if I have its use cases and class diagrams insteadof purely source code.

Any help at this matter or any advice regarding designing J2EE application in general or SCEA assignment in particular is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Hi Tien,

Documentation for PetStore application is here: http://java.sun.com/blueprints/guidelines/designing_enterprise_applications_2e/sample-app/sample-app1.3.1.html. I also recommend you to study Designing Enterprise Applications with the J2EE Platform, Second Edition (http://java.sun.com/blueprints/guidelines/designing_enterprise_applications_2e/index.html) and Mark Cade's book.
My architecture was based on PetStore. I followed the approach from Mark Cade's book in presenting the diagrams.

Cheers,

Thang

Hi,

Thank you very much for your guide.

Mr Thang, I look at your name and guess that you are Vietnamese. It's very nice surprise to see someone from vietnam in this forum. I really want to make friends with you. Could you write to me at ntduongntd@pmail.ntu.edu.sg

Regards,
