I am beginning my preparation for part I of the exam and I am looking for some good books. I already orderd the Mark Cade book that is recommended by Sun and rated pretty highly on Amazon. I noticed that the bambara & allen book has been universally panned on amazon.com, the consensus on amazon seems to be that its not worth the paper its printed on. I have used Osborne Media study guides for other Java certification and found them very useful. Is this book really THAT bad, is the consensus on javaranch the same as on amazon? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Jack,

The Bambara & Allen book is full with mistakes I find it interesting to find as many as I can. It is sad that the publishing house is not interested in improving the situation there is no errata page and my efforts to contact somebody in the publishing house didn't yield a thing.

Where did you see the consensus on Amazon about the book? Can you send us a link?

Regards,
Dan

here is the link

if you read through the reviews they are pretty scathing. I appreciated the insight.

I notice that on this javaranch the book was rated with 8/10 horseshoes so I am wondering why is it relatively well rated on javaranch and so horribly rated on amazon.com
