Need guidance

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
HI folks.
I'm Amol , just cleared SCBCD on 23rd march. I would like to go for SCEA, so some guidance would be helpful.
Here is my current state.
SCJP (2000) 86%
SCWCD (2003) 89%
SCBCD (2005) 97%

I do not have deeper knowledge of Design patterns, although I understand a few. I do not know UML. I've 2.9 yrs of experince in J2EE at developer level. From here, please guide me as to what should my focus be, that would benefit in best possible way(including SCEA).
I would like to be practicle architect. So I do not mind studying 2 hrs a day for next 4-6 months along with job.
But if studying long hours in short duration is also OK, I can do that too.
I carry a nice understanding of java/j2ee at development level, I have not architected any medium scale project before.

Please dash in your views , your suggestions are valuable to me.
Amol.

Hi Amol,

I did also the three certs. But I do have experiences in UML, and a little in architecture. Anyway, just learn whit all these well-known books and links (just make a search in the forum) for learning and studing.

I have not finished yet. I am struggling throught the part 2. For that I read a lot in the forum and draw diagrams again and again. It is not that easy. It is a really tuff part.

IMO the other three certs were easylier then the part 2 of SCEA. Reason for that is, that nobody tells me: Hi Lucy, that is okay. Yes that is the right way. I have to hope that I am on the right way.

In the end I have to grep my hops together and send my solution away.

So you see, I might not be that big help ..

Lucy

Hi Lucy,
Thank you for your reply. Yeah I also think the same. I think I would read all books in links , understand those , try and apply those at work place and then try for SCEA.
Yeah we cannot find people to tell you if your UML or design is prefect or not, we need to rely on our knowledge...that makes exam a wannabe.
Out of all exams I carry nice understanding, but looks like my aim should be 2 hrs of study for next 4-5 months.

Amol,

If I would be you, I would be happy with that much certifications (for time being may be 1yr or so).To let that much knowledge settle and use that in practical scinario.
And if my aim is to architect the designs, I would read abt Design patterns and see that when im implementing anything , can any of those design patterns be followed so that u get practical experience in that n know their pros and cons.

And once im satisfied,I would go for SCEA, as now all u will have to do is learn UML and thats not a big thing to do if u ahve right tool and book.

Thnaks,
Rashmi

Hello Rashmi,
Thankx for replying. Yeah looks like Design Patterns and UML is what I need only. But your right I better off get some design experience.
I do not mind studying with job for a quarter or so. But thankx again for your advice.
Amol.
Try 100 things. 2 will work out, but you will never know in advance which 2. This tiny ad might be one:
