I got the assignment for a month, but I am still hung around and do not know how to start it. something likes: 1. do I give a big class diagram or a few smaller ones? 2. does one sequence diagram for each use case? while drawing the sequence diagram, i found I need to jump to anther use case, how do I deal with this situation? 3. anything do i pay attention to to the above diagram? as i know one thing, I need to put all my assumption down to the paper, any format on that? 4. last question, any tips to get hand dirty quickly
I know the feeling very well - it took me a while to get around to requesting Part II after I passed Part I, and even now I keep dragging my feet on it.
That being said....
I found the Cade/Roberts book a good resource to kick my mind into gear now and again if I lose myself in trying to think of how best to handle the diagrams. Between that and the Petshop examples, you should have something to help you figure out how to get rolling on your own.
As for free UML tools, I'm using Jude. It's not wonderful, but it does the job.

I started the 2nd Part in Sept 2004 and still not reached my goal ...
