Hello All,

For Part III,

1)Are the questions based on Part II assignment given to an individual?

Meaning the questions will be strictly related to the assignment given(e.g. why was a particular design decision made etc. )

Or they will be in general anything related with SCEA knowledge (e.g. (a)which are the situations to use CORBA and which are situations to use RMI (b) what are options for legacy connectivity )

2)Are the answers expected in great details?

thanks -
KV

Hi KV,

Deepak Pant stated on the Topic: Question of Part 2 and Part 3 (posted on March 10, 2005 08:04 PM) that the questions are general questions that do not base on the proposed architecture.

Deepak suggests that we do not have to learn for part III and should take it directly after upload of part II.

That is what I found when I did a search over the SCEA topics about the topics of part III.

But there might be more, so just use the search options that is supported by the forum.

Hi,

I took part III last Friday afternoon and the essay consists of questions based around design decisions that are generic to all assignments. That is, they are not specific to your assignment but a question that could be asked on all assignments.

I hope this helps - sorry I cannot say anymore but I'm sure you will find them fairly straight forward so long as you are the author of your submission. That said, the questions I was asked did take me by surprise and therefore required the 90 minutes allocated to answer them. Not that I didn't know the answers, I just had to remember the fine detail on how I approached the decisions within the architecture and design.

Regards

Hi Ian,

Since tomorrow there is my PART III exam, I sit pretty nervous at home and learn something. I take a day off to prepare for the exam.

I hope I learn that what might help me. I just review all the names of my components, the design patterns the architect provides. Further, I checked what are system requiremtns, like scalability, and how the system requirements can be supported.

I hope that is what I need & will help me to give pretty good answers.

I could not go earlier to the exam, since my prometric company messed up my appointment. Some guy of prometric was on vacation, she has to handle the appointments. The others of prometric stated: Yes, no problem, please come on Tuesday 17 June. When the woman was back from vacation, she phoned me. She told me, sorry, I can not come ....

I am still pretty angry about prometric.

Anyway, wishing all of us good luck

Hi,

Lucy, good luck tomorrow on your Part III. There is nothing to worry about and the questions asked will be based upon design decisions that you would have been forced to make as the author of your assignment.

I spent about a hour just before the exam reviewing my decisions and architecture but actually missed the questions being asked - simply my fault for not considering that they would be asked. However, the result was that I had to remember some of the decisions made, however, as they are decisions that would be made commercially, the reasons why quite obvious.

Good luck again,

Hi Ian,

Yes, you are right.

There are questions asking about design decisions made by the architect. So that is how Sun tries to find out if I was the architect of my submission.

I hope I was good enough, and mentioned the right components in such a detail to convince Sun.

Wishing all of us that we will pass

Lucy

Comment: This report shows the total points that could have been awarded in each section and the actual amount of points you were awarded. This information is provided in order to give you feedback on your relative strengths on a section basis. The maximum number of points you could have received is 100, minimum to pass is 70. Class Diagram (44 maximum) ............................... 44 Component Diagram (44 maximum) ........................... 34 Sequence/Colloboration Diagrams (12 maximum) ............. 10

Here are some comments:

  • Component Diagram: one component diagram . It was really a big one. Perhaps it was not that good sttructured so that I lost here that much points.
  • Sequence Diagram: Yes, Sequence and not Colloboration. Provided two for pay itinerary. Do not have a clue right now why I lost here points or why I gained 10 points.
  • Class Diagram: Changed the business domain model. 29 classes are named.

  • What else might you want to know?!

Thanks all of you, who writes something in the forum. Each item might be helpful for me.

Now, I will take a break.
