Another beaten to death topic in this forum... regarding change itinerary usecase.

I consider a segment as 1 take off and landing. So if a customer goes from A->B->C and back (with a flight change in B), there are four segments : foward (A-B, B-C) and backward (C-B, B-A). Now if the customer executes the change itinerary usecase, and deletes a segment say B-C, how should it continue with the prepare itinerary ???. I am sure the logic for prepare itinerary starts with a whole trip(A-C) and not just part of it(B-C), I mean a segment.

I don't want to make things complicated. So what I think the best solution is : delete the whole trip either forward trip or backward trip depending on where that segment belongs to, and then execute the prepare itinerary with that just trip as oneway. So in the above case if B-C is deleted, all (adjacent) segments for that trip A-B-C (one-way) gets deleted and A-C is once again executed in the prepare itinerary. But there should be some auto-fill functionality like it should start from A and ends in C, and cannot select a backward trip since there's already one existing etc...etc. Well, these are some of the restrictions in this case !!!

So now depending on the new flight availability, the customer can choose A-X-Y-B-C, and the return can remain the same C-B-A

Does this make any sense to you guys ???

It wouldn't be my choice
