hey Ranchers,
I am totally new this SCEA concept. Can any one tell me as to what are the requirements a person needs, to become a complete SCEA.

Thanx in advance

Srini

See, on first glance at your subject, my thought was "very slowly, so as not to startle it, as SCEA may become very dangerous when frightened and they gather in groups", but that's not helpful.

SCEA is largley an exercise in software design, whereas the other certifications deal more with the practice of writing software. Therefore, the first portion of the certification - a multiple choice exam - deals with the theories and concepts of Java's Enterprise Edition. The second portion's a practical exam, and the third an essay exam, dealing with a "real world" situation where you'd have to architect a solution.

As to what you need, Sun has not established any prerequisites for the SCEA. So you can take it when you feel ready. I would recommend, however, having some experience with software architecture (UML / OOAD) and the Java EE technologies under your belt first before you start on your way.

hey Theodore Casser,
Thanks for your advice. How is the scope for SCEA in the job market. On an average, what is the time required for completing all the 3 exams for an average person..
Thanks
Srini

(By the by, 'Srinivasan R', you might want to change your name to abide by the naming conventions here at the Ranch. Just fyi.)

Scope for SCEA in the marketplace: Depends on the market, honestly. I did it because I'm looking for advancement at my current job. You just have to keep your eyes open for jobs looking for a software architect as one of their requirements and look to leverage it there, for example.

Time: That varies widely. It took me about six months, though I was also planning my wedding during that time and working full-time. So your time to complete it might be very different.
