I cleared part I with a score of 34/48 which is 70%. I under estimated the exam, it was not easy as I thought of it. I reviewed for only 25 hours by reading Mark Cade book and Head First EJB. Did some practice exam on Whizlab which I failed most of them. Having experience in java enterprise architecture,(which I have none) I guess helps a lot. When someone say the exam is easy, don't believe it, yet. You wont know until you take the exam.

Hi,

First of all congrats on clearing the exam. It doesnt matter how less score you have, all matters is you have passed it.

Taking other part, you said questions were difficult. Do you mean the questions were totally out of blue which you couldnt guess at all or it was more analytical in nature describing a scenario difficult to create picture of in mind?
Do you think the questions are less direct and more indirect in nature? Ex.Can u remove session bean from EJBHome (Yes). Vs a scenario talking about a detailed aspect.

It will be helpful for everyone if you could compare it with existing mock exams around(free ones).

Yes, it was more analytical in nature you wont have any difficulty creating pictures in mind, but the trick part is you are presented with choices which seems all of the answer are possible. There are some direct questions on I18N and Messaging, and Design Patterns but I got a scenario based question on the rest of the topics including Security.
Of course all the things that I said was just my direct perception of the things I encountered during the exam it may vary with somebody.

First, to echo Amol - Congratulations on passing Part I. Don't let your low score discourage you, as the the score's not what matters. Whether you pass by the skin of your teeth or ace it, a pass is still a pass, and that's what matters.

Look at the portions where you did poorly as a learning experience and study those things to improve for down the road. The exam isn't easy - it's meant to be challenging - and as always, some of the questions are more confusing than they need to be. Some folks are going to find some exams easier than others, and this is one of those situations.

Best of luck as you move forward!
