Hi guys,
Passed scea with 97% on 27 March finally (take part in Part III on 27 Feb):

Class Diagram (44 maximum) .......................... 44
Component Diagram (44 maximum) ...................... 41
Sequence/Colloboration Diagrams (12 maximum) ........ 12

I found this site when I searching help about how to take part in SCEA part III. It is a very good forum on SCEA. If I found this forum earlier, may be I will submit my assigment with more confident. For me, I passed Part I in Nov 2004, and submit the Part II assigment in Jan 2006. It takes very long time for me to prepare the assigment. One resean I submit the assigment so later is that I am afraid a may be fail because the Votcher spend me a lots of money in my coutry (2500 China Yuan, 1/3 of my month salary. Currently I moved to Autstralia); One reason is that I over done the design - I give a very detailed design, include presentation tier. For example, class diagram include 10 class diagrams, in package level.

When I come this forum after I submited my assigment, I found others' assigment is quite different from mine, and I have almost no assumptions (the cardinality of the domain/entity objects I have draw on the class diagram). I am afraid I will fail, but I passed by luck.

From the discuss and post in this forum, I found a problem of SCEA Part II - almost all the assigment is the same, all about Fly by Night, Iterations and Segments. I think the assigment to each is quite different, at least not the same one. The problem is, day by day, it's will be very easy to pass the SCEA assigment. This is quite UNFAIR for the guys who took part in the certification early, and SCEA will lost it's value gradully. Don't you think so?

Yes , I have in the past remarked that going through this forum will provide both the assignment details and various aspects that need to be considered for the solution.

Basically the cat is out of the bag as far as I am concern.

As for the value of this certification , I now treat developers with an SCEA as principal engineers unless they prove that they in fact are architects during the interview.

Part 1 has value for engineers who wish to become architects , but definately this certificate has lost value for architects

Over the time any thing looses it's value either upward or downward. Certifications are good when they are fresh say 1 or 2 years, after that they gradually loose their value.

Regarding SCEA, part II and III are same for all applicants. One thing is sure, being a certified SCEA doesn't make you a good architect, this just tells you know the fundamentals (at least you can intrepet UML). I think overall experience counts beter than certifications.

Certification tells the follwoing
1) You know fundamentals
2) You are willing to learn
3) You have self confidence

Just my $.02
