hi All,

I am SCJP. My long time plan is to be a certified architect (SCEA). Currently I am preparing for SCWCD. Can any one please let me know if I need to clear SCBCD before going for architect exam. I know it is not a pre-requisite for architect exam but if I need to be a good architect I need to know a bit about all java components. So I am thinking only way I can prove myself that I know a bit of every java component is to go for a certification.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

SCBCD concepts will be very useful for SCEA. SCWCD will also help particularly in web component security

If you already working web development using J2EE technologies, then SCWCD may not add any value. However taking a certification helps to learn some of the things we may not learn during projects.

If you have time and willing to learn go for SCWCD, otherwise just learn the concepts go for SCEA directly.

Good luck

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
