Tool for creating the assignment

All,

I would like to know the list of tools that folks who have done Part-2.

-Enterprise Architect (Sparxsystems), Rational Rose,TogetherJ,Visio
-How about open source..Did anyone do a successful assignment using Poesidon ArgoUML ?
-Websphere application studio/Rational App developer as it also provides features of UML
-Does it have to be based on UML 2.0 or 1.1 ?
-Sun does not mention anything on the version of uml that should be used.

Whats the std in this forum...would like to have a view before i start ..
Pls. highlight..which one you used, why and whether any pitfalls that I need to take care of

You might want to do a few searches - these mostly have been discussed in here previously over the months and years.

But, to answer the basic questions - It's entirely possible to do a successful assignment for Part II using Argo (as I did). Sun doesn't mention what standards to use - the only requirement they have is that you use a release version of J2EE (which I assume includes Java EE 5, as that was just released). So use your best judgement.

i am using EA (Sparxsystems) for component class and deployment diagram.
and looking for other to do Sequence diagrams. (perhaps Poseidon, very goog tool)

I tested the free community edition of Visual Paradigm for UML and I'am quite impressed by performance and functionality. I think it's the best free uml tool out threre.

However, I have some concerns regarding the license. You have to register and get a license key, but they don't tell you if (or when) the key expires.

Has anyone of you guys run into trouble because of an expired license or is it just free without any catches (except the "no commercial use" thing)?

... found the catch. After a couple of diagrams the exported images are crippled by watermarks. The "community edition" is virtually useless. If you want to get rid of the watermarks you must spend 59 USD for the "personal edition".
