Hi ,

i am new to this ranch, i was searching thru the posts to get some good study material on SCEA

i found a few of the exam mock/questions available in net (mostly from javaranch)

1. http://www.prepare4success.co.uk/prepare4success_buy301questions.html
2. http://www.moelholm.com/
3. http://www.whizlabs.com/scea/scea.html
4. http://www.examhouse.com/products/Sun_CX-310-051/index.php (847 QUESTIONS)
5. http://www.epractizelabs.com - most active on java ranch ? (suite for 90$ after discount of 50%)
6.

well now i need to know which one (full version) is worth a buy ?
and why does examhouse which has better question base cheaper than epractize ?

any one who has seen used these products and taken exams, please comment.

Thank you very much

It's not just a question about which is best - they all have their merits.

What you need to decide is what practical approach works best for you.
Do you want a paper based approach that you can use of the bus or train or in the canteen? Or do you want an interactive computer based approach?

They are all of the same quality but use different approaches.

Hi ,

Thank you for your comments,
i am fine with either bus based or comp based i think any how i will use a laptop.

there are so many set of mock test available in the market , i donno which to choose from.

i would consider a mock/material good ,
if it is shorter, (no long blah blah's but to point)
and has good amount of explanation.

Regards,

If you are any way new to this.
Start at the begining, No point in cramming the simulators just yet.
Just getting the Architect title means squat, Carrying the big picture forward is what will propell one.
1.If familiar with design patterns ,then look at UML go to ejb.
Design patterns based on where you are interest is either Head first or GOf. Then go to ejb. Then read the Cade book. This will build thh whole picture tie in various topics. Then one is ready to go to simulators and start practising.
The point is simulators are good. But for a novice the whole picture has to be build, where everything sits and how to think.
About timing, this whole process is not about how fast one is ready for the exam. This approach makes makes the timing for part1 longer, but part 2 will be a breeze effectively cutting the total time for SCEA. One comes out very strong in basics.
About simutaor, currently epractise because of 50% off seems to be more viable and it seems to cover part1-2-3. Whizlabs also was told is good but but topics are more difficult than real exam.

Hi Sanjeev,
I just downloaded examhouse simulator's trial version and there were questions like

1. Which layer of switching makes no modification of the data packet?
2. ________ is a ongestion vaoidance method that unconditionally drops packets when a queue is full?
3. What are the two ways to configure VLAN memberships?
4. What are the criteria that STP uses to chose a path?
5. Type in command to enable STP on VLAN4
6. Stativ VLANs offer MAC address based memberships.
7. Which of the following functions can a multilayer switch perform?
8. In which of the following STP state, a port can send and receive BPDUs, learn MAC address, and send and receive data?

I am not sure which exam objectives these questions fall into?

Please check and then only buy it.

And if you have already bought, then please share the experience about the rest of the questions.

Thanks

The questions listed in the previous entries from the 'examhouse simulator's trial version' are absolutely irrelevent to the SCEA exam.

You will not get any questions on these subjects.

I already bought it before seeing your posts.Spent $4.80 on it.There are some 800 questions in it and 7 practise exams of which I attemped two.Out of 60 questions in each exam about 10-15 are not relevant to SCEA.

"Balaji" and , "Mira_Mehta"

There aren't many rules that you need to worry about here on the Ranch, but one that we take very seriously regards the use of proper names. Please take a look at the JavaRanch Naming Policy and adjust your display name to match it.

In particular, your display name must be a first and a last name separated by a space character, and must not be obviously fictitious.

Thanks!
Scott
