Need suggestion for Part-II.

I cleared Part-I last year but due to work load I couldnot proceed with Part-II. Now, I am planning for Part-II. I need guidanace as where to start. As per my understanding, I noted following for Part-II.

1. Refer UML book, UML Distilled or wherever ..
2. Design Pattern materials (GOF, J2EE Design Pattern)
3. Pet Store implementation.

Is there any material that is required for Part-II ? Please let me know your reply will help me to the decision.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I you have the real experience, much preparation is not required. Part 2 & 3 are quite easy. Read the assignment 5-6 times, you get a better idea.

Read the assignment, start with component diagram then class and sequence diagrams. etc etc. Slowly build the design in and around. Read the postings in this forum.

All the best for Part-2

Thanks, atleast that gave me broader picture how to proceed ....

Now, I understand after going through the assignment and designing the the system, the details aspect of design pattern and uml will be read. That make sense ...

Thank You

Hi,

I would suggest Mark Cades book. Is a thin book but has a very good sample.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Apart from Mark Cade, I went to the forum posting and found a lot of place discussion on petstore because Sun's Petstore has demonstrated the aprroach of building real time application using J2EE.
I am bit confused when I read an article on OnJava Spring Article. The author has critised the PetStore implementation from Sun

Actually, I should ask myself whether Pettore is poorly designed? But, I can not answer because I have not gone through PetStore. I am planning to have a look on the implementation of PetStore to answer this question myself.
