I was looking at Java Secure Sockets Extension (J2SSE) I thought this is enough to secure..., from my understanding this doesn't lookup an EJB but only for a secure server socket like new Socket("https://etc").
It's called an extension because the "s" in the HTTPs isn't supported prior to J2SSE(java1.2). Am I correct?

Is there a system property that I could set in my running JVM to do SSL and with this I should also install SSL in my application server right? So that when I lookup an EJB and submit credit card details it is secured?

Can you please put your requirements in simple terms. Sorry, I am not able to get what you are trying to achieve here.
