I have noticed that there are very few people on the forum who tend to answer the queries being but by new SCEA aspirants ?

I also find it strange that the last participation by the Moderator (Ajith Kallambella) was back in June 2006. Now that is strange... No new post on the forum that you are moderating or almost 9 months.

Is there some reason behind this ?

To answer some of your questions:

* SCEA, as I've pointed out myself a few times, is one of the less popular exams - the figure quoted to me at JavaOne in 2005 was that it constitutes about one percent of the Java exams sat-for at Prometric's sites. Which means there's a great many more folks taking the other exams, and consequently a smaller percentage of folks who are in a position to answer questions about this exam.

* Also, there might just be fewer folks who hang around to answer questions after taking the exam. I know I tend to try to be helpful since I found answers I got here during my experience to be helpful, which is why I am a more frequent contributer, but I can't speak for everyone.

* The bartender only tends to get involved if there's a real problem. But I can't speak for him as to his involvement - just offering a possible explanation. (And this specific forum tends not to have too many problems. )

Just relax. As long as your questions are answered and you can find the discussion helpful, isn't that what matters most?

Totally agree.

This is not a paid forum set up by accredited SCEA to help out new beas :-)

If you have noticed, most forums on net, be it SCEA or a Visa forum or an english exam forum, 99% of the participants will be the people who are currently undergoing that exam, or applying for that visa respectively.

Once you have cleared the exam, you may hang around for a day or two, but after that you are diverted to more important things and you never hit javaranch again until you take an other exam for which you might need some help.

Anyway, I am about to start my assignment in a weeks time, so we can help each other (and any other new beas) along the way :-)

hello,

I'm still here. There are not many threads in which I can and want to contribute, though.

It sure feels nice to be missed

Your observations are correct. That I haven't been around as much as I'd like, and as much as most of you would like, and that I'm not usually needed outside situations that require serious policing.

On a personal note, I have been swamped with my studies. For those of you who don't know this, I'm pursuing my second Masters degree at Carnegie Mellon. With job, school, and a toddler at home I'm not left with much time to do things I really like doing.

I'll try to be around as much as I can. In the meantime, if you really, really, really need my attention, drop me a note at [email protected]
