Just saw my results for part II in certmanager:

Grade: P
Score: 93
Comment: This report shows the total points that could have been awarded in each section and the actual amount of points you were awarded. This information is provided in order to give you feedback on your relative strengths on a section basis. The maximum number of points you could have received is 100, minimum to pass is 70.
Class Diagram (44 maximum) .......................... 39
Component Diagram (44 maximum) ...................... 44
Sequence/Colloboration Diagrams (12 maximum) ........ 10

A warm "THANK YOU" to all fellow forum members!
The posts were a great inspiration while doing the assignment!

A few tips from my - now successful - experience:

  • Rely on YOUR experience and provide a solution, which YOU can justify as plausible and complete.
  • Don't measure your solution simply by counts (how many diagrams, how many classes), but by logical completeness!
  • Don't try to apply every single tip/hint/concept from the forum! Always consider, if it fits YOUR overall design and architecture.
  • Don't use patterns or concepts just because they exists or they are cool! Always have a good justification for your decisions and choices!
  • Build YOUR consistent model and not a confused collaboration of scattered snippets randomly taken from books or forum-posts!
  • Don't get lost in too low-level details! Remember: we're architecting and NOT implementing!

  • To summarize: Apply experience, knowledge and common sense!

Now for me it's time for

    Congrats. Magnifique!!!

I see that you are master in component which is the most difficult to me.

I would like to send you somes questions:

    1. I plan to have only one component for all JSP. Because I think JSP is just for displaying purpose only.
Many ServletController component like Mark Cade.

Only one component for swing presentation. Many controller component for Swing, similar to ServletController.

2 Entity vs DAO, for some entities, I use EntityBean, for some other I use DAO without EntityBean.
Is that good? (in the eyes of grader)

    Thanks and cheers,

    Thanks in advance!

Many others have reported to have done so; seems to be alright

It's totally ok, if you based your choice on good reason and you can explain and justify your choice! I think, this is an issue, which cannot be emphasized enough - maybe it's even the most important lesson, I've learned during the certification

Remember: DOn't overestimate everything you read here on the forum and don't take everything for granted. Take the posts as an inspiration. After all architecture and design also is a creative process!

    Good luck,
    Frank
