Yes I failed by 1% and have to retest. I figured I would start reviewing all that matieral again, in less of a hurry, but most of the links for recommended study material are broken(at least on my machine).

So first question I have is can we update the SCEA links or faq to and seperate the old recommended study material from the new?

Ok from my memory of recommended reading

Core J2EE design patterns.
Gang of four.
J2EE 5 tutorial
EJB 3 spec.
Sorry I do not have the 2 or 3 security url links that explained so much to me.

Since I totally blew properly choosing which web technology questions. Please can someone provide a link to what sun says the correct decision process.

Please add to the list of stuff that should be covered for SCEA5

Hi Peter,
I'm not sure if such material can be shared just yet since the Beta is still going on. Be sure to ask again on December 27th, since the 26th is the last day of the beta. Under normal circumstances, I'd be more than happy to share everything I know with you, but it seems like there is a requirement for radio silence for the time being.

Cheers,
Jim

Hi !

List of study material for SCEA 5 was posted by Evelyn.

Then it was deleted from Sun web-site when SCEA 5 Beta Part 1 was closed.

Try google cache

You may want ot make a local copy before google cache expires.

regards,
MZ

I posted the list a few months ago when someone asked for it:

http://www.coderanch.com/t/155965/java-Architect-SCEA/certification/FREE-SCEA-Beta-Certification-Exam

On that list, you'll note an EJB3 book recommended by Sun. That book is indeed well worth reading, but I would also add Java Persistence with Hibernate (Bauer/King) to your reading list, as it goes into more of the theory of ORM and why certain choices were made in JPA. You might also want to add Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture (Fowler).

I've reviewed some of the books on that list on my blog, and now that part II is over, I'll be adding more reviews of books on that list.
