Hi,

I'm using StarUML for my assignment, but I can't represent all the things I want in the sequence diagrams:

1) The tipical "new" message to create an object appears as "new()", which seems to the reader that it is a method call but is not.
2) message parameters are not shown: "message(anObject)" appears as "message()"
3) Can't add found messages (that is, the message that triggers the sequence diagram)

Am I missing some kind of configuration?
What other *free* tool do you know that has all the features of sequence diagrams? (it seems to me that StarUML falls short in this area)

Thanks in advance
Gabriel

1) on the right side in properties area you select for the action "ActionKind" - "CREATE". You get <<create>> stereotype.

2) if you click in the right side (model explorer area) on UMLSequenceDiagram, then in properties area you will see "MessageSignature" property, which has 4 options (NONE, TYPEONLY, NAMEONLY, so on ..)

Hi Ranchers!

Sorry to bring this thread back to life.

I am using StarUML for the sequence diagrams(SCEA Part 2). I want to represent invoke operations on an object which do not map to the exact method name in the object.

Consider the following link

http://java.sun.com/blueprints/corej2eepatterns/Patterns/ServiceLocator.html

The sequence diagram has create/lookup operation but it is not a method on the object. It does not have a parenthesis too.
How do i create one like this in StarUML?.StarUML adds the parenthesis by default.Basically i want to get away with this parenthesis. Can someone please help me out?

Thanks and regards,
Muhilan

Did you try any IDE, most of which have a trial period with all features?
