Hi all,

I have SCJP 1.4 and SCWCD 1.4. Is it possible for me to take SCEA 5? I mean, I do not have any experience using either JSE 5 nor JEE 5 in real world. Please advise.
Thank you.

It's possible to take the SCEA for Java EE 5 without experience in Java EE 5 (or even Java SE 5.0). The exam has no other prerequisites within the Sun certification program, and doesn't require any programming knowledge. (Realize that Sun's exams are divided by role, not by technology - architecting solutions is considered wholly different from implementing them.)

That said... it would be highly advisable to have some experience with software design under your belt, and then take the time to familiarize yourself with the technologies within Java EE 5 before sitting for the SCEA.

Hi Theodore,

Thanks for your reply. Could you brief me the differences between SCEA 1.4 and SCEA 5? Let say I already taken SCEA 5 exams, but unfortunately I will be dealing with J2EE 1.4 project in the future. Could I still implement my "SCEA 5" knowledge in it?
Thanks.
