It seems like very few amount of developers are interested in SCMAD... The traffic here in this forum is very low even compared to SCDJWS forum out there...

But the traffic got a bit higher last week, when there was a promotion running... I will post more, when I get to the intense preparation for this exam...

As has been said in another thread, I think the real issue isn't so much lack of interest as the fact that there's just not the same push for J2ME as there is for JWS in the marketplace. It's a factor of web services being the 'in' thing and easily accessable to more people than a mobile app. *shrugs*

For instance, I'd love to run mobile apps, but my phone doesn't support it. On the other hand, it takes very little playing with my webserver at home to run a web service (installing Axis took me maybe five minutes).

Give it time. Folks will come in here more as more Java-enabled phones become affordable in the US, and bandwidth in North America for mobile phones increases.

Well, atleast, you are not alone.
Sometimes, what we want isn't what we need, tat's the fact, so people intend to choose what they need "currently".

IMHO, expect this area to pick up dramatically in the next year or so as the smart phone is poised to replace the PDA. Sony has officially stopped production on its PDA line in favor of app enabled phnes, and both HP and Compaq have hinted at doing the same soon (although no official word from HP or Compaq yet). This could soon be a great time to have your SCMAD... especially since the number of certified developers is relatively small compared to other areas.

U and me? Well, if I am not wrong, Theodore is also preparing for SCMAD... But it seems like people are reading things quietly at home and they seldomly hang around in this forum of the Ranch... So we will be surprised to see people posting their success stories in the certification result forum...

You're not wrong. I'm slowly ramping up to try again at the SCMAD after failing the beta. (I have a few other things on my plate at the moment, between debating possibly taking a stab at SCJD or SCEA, helping my fiancee plan our wedding, and my job.)

As for the continuing silence... eh. I like to think that this is going to be a certification that'll sneak up on folks as to how valuable it is once mobile platforms are more common in the marketplace, along the lines of what Paul pointed out.

Here in Dallas, Texas I have seen a few jobs asking for J2ME experience. This is why I am pursuing the certification now. Not alot of people will have actual work experience, and the certification will speak for itself. This place should pick up over the next 12 months.

Um... congratulate... yeah.... ucks:

Actually, my fiancee is very understanding of my studying for things. She's gotten rather reconciled to the fact that she's marrying a computer geek, even if my talking about what I do for a living makes her eyes glaze over.

We, computer geeks, usually have to face such kind of difficulties all the time... We might spend time in front of a computer for hours.. But they, who are wives, fiancees, girlfriends or whatever, always think that we have less time for them...

So we can't do anything, but get off from the front of computer's monitor to take care of them... Sometimes personal life is more important than business life... We got to be clever enough how to divide time between them...
