Hi all,

I have decided not to use the Wireless toolkit, instead go for a real phone to have better preparation for the exam...
So need ur views on which phone currently is the best for J2ME MIDP 2.0..
I liked Sony Ericsion P900...which ones are u using ..pls let me know

Thanks

WTK is the most recommended practice tool for SCMAD... Even though you might want to use the real phone, if you got some technical problem with device-specific issues, then it will make you delay in preparing for the exam topics as well...

To eliminate the device-specific problems, WTK is the best choice for SCMAD aspirants... However, after the preparation of all the exam topics, you may want to deploy the codes that your practice into the real phone and see what will happen...

But if you are in time-constraint, I do recommend you to use WTK, rather than the real phone for preparation...

Yes, AdmadS... It's more exciting to see our applications running on the real phone... If you are not in a hurry to sit for SCMAD and reserve a lot of time in preparation, practicing with a real phone would be great, I feel...

I heard from mobile phone retailer last week that Nokia 6600 is going to be replaced with a new model... So he suggested me to think about it whether to buy this model of 6600 or wait for a new model...

You will find interesting J2ME benchmarks for many if not all phones here :
http://www.jbenchmark.com/

And this one too, in french sorry but quite understandable anyway even for non french speaking people :

Hi !

If you are speaking about Samsung SGH-C100, yes it is, but a poor model for J2ME with a very modest 304 on JBench-1.0.
But Benq M300 doesn't seem J2ME compatible (Java games only but no J2ME).

Best regards.

Hi pallavi !

yes it is SGH-C100 what do u mean by poor model for j2me??? a lil more info plz

I simply meant its J2ME applications speed is really poor, midlets will be really slow.
Its JBenchmark 1.0 score mesuring its global J2ME performances is 304, while my middle-end product Motorola V525 which is good but neither recent nor high-end such as a Sony-Ericsson P900, scores 1165 for same test. So I said "poor model for j2me" simply because 304 is much lower than 1165. A high-end product such as a Sony-Ericsson P900 scores 2203 at same test, which is of course much better.
But you shouldn't really focus on this, unless you want to be able to run a fast 3D game on your phone, probably any J2ME enabled phone should suit your needs. If you like one particular model for some reasons, as long as it is J2ME enabled it is OK.

JBenchmark 1.0 evaluates : Text, 2D Shapes, 3D Shapes, Fill Rate, Animation.

Perhaps one of best J2ME phones could be Motorola MPx220 which scores an amazing 14312 at JBenchmark 1.0 test, best score I have seen yet.

Best regards.
