Hi Reghu + ranchers,

I touched down SCJP 5.0 and now need to pick SCMAD 1.0.
I have been reading all the posts so far, here at ranch about SCMAD prep material.

Reghu, from your post I believe you completed the SCMAD in about 1 months time and started the prep with "Beginning J2ME: From Novice to Professional by Jonathan Knudsen, Sing Li" book.
Is this book enough??

Besides this book and the exam simulators, what else did u go thru??

For fellow ranchers:
There are some posts about Wireless Java: Developing with J2ME, 2nd Ed
Jonathan Knudsen, as being a good book too !!

which is the best book to get started and complete the exam?
the website www.scmad.com seems can never be sailed thru.....the info there is vast as an ocean..

please help with reqd info !!!

thnx-
Saurabh.

Yes, I took approx 1 month to complete the exam.

I started by reading thru the book and i went through the chapters related to the exam only as the book also has advanced topics like Bluetooth etc

Since, just reading doesnt help, i tried out the examples given in the book because thats how we can retain something in our brain

The JMAD+ from enthuware is relatively cheap for Rs.1500 and i think if you complete all the exams from the simulator, the final exam should be a very easy

And finally, i went through Sathya's notes a day before the exam. Give me your mail id so that i can mail you the notes.

Personally, I used Wireless Java 3rd Ed for preparation, coupled with a bit of experience, a copy of WhizLab's SCMAD simulator that I won here a while back, and Sathya's notes as a last minute review... but found honestly that my own flash cards were probably the best thing I did, to drill into my head some of the minutae.

Good luck!

Hi Reghu and Theodore,

thanks for the valuable guidance.
I will pick "Beginning J2ME..." and "Wireless Java -3rd ed..." as my starting point and reference.

JMAD + SCMAD simulators from Enthuware and whizlabs shud be enough.

My email is cool_sabson@yahoo.com, please kindly send me the notes from Satya.

thanks again-
Saurabh.

YongCan, what are you trying to understand?

Do you mean that you don't understand what William is talking about?

Hi Ko Ko & YongCan

In a personal mail YongCan says...

I can't understand the code. Please tell me how to deal with them. Thank you very much.regards YongCan

Yong, I hope you are familiar with java or maybe j2se..it would help in understanding the j2me code in the notes .. To take this exam the pre requisite is that you need to have passed SCJP...

I think Ko Ko would have some better suggestions than me on how to deal with the code ...

William

According to his signature, I think he has passed SCJP already. He might be trying to prepare for the SCMAD exam now.
