As far as I know, it is gonna be sold worldwide. It is expected to be released 'bout at the same time the real exam, perhaps a little bit earlyer. My - personal - estimative is around late sept/ early aug. Regards, Gustavo
Murthy, The book will surely be available in India. It may take a while before it gets published in India. Dont forget that Kathys SCJP book (Limited copies)is available in India.
I am not sure who is the publisher of this book but it seems it is O'Reilly & Associates. Hence you may expect it to be available in India through Shroff Publishers & Distributors in India. Usually it takes a few months before they reprint a book
Howdy all, Thanks for asking about the book Gus has the right info... it will come out at the same time as the exam, probably in late August or very early September. O'Reilly is the publisher, and the book will be in the Head First format. We are going to see if we can do something to get the Indian reprint happening as quickly as possible! I'll update you as soon as I know. In the meantime, I'd stick to what everybody has been recommending -- the spec, a good book, practice, javaranchers, and Val's cheat sheets. cheers, Kathy
Kathy You must be a millionaire already! Your first book was great now we will soon have another! I will gladly add to your riches Cheers, Smythe SCP1.4 SCWCD
OK, I am laughing laughing laughing! The realities of the book world are such that Bert and I will probably not get our very first royalty check until December 31! We are thrilled that the first two books are doing so well, and the emails and messages we get from people saying that we have helped them learn (or pass the exam) are extremely rewarding, But *that* is what motivates us. I don't think you can actually make real money from books unless you write: * sex scandals * "Chicken soup for the application assembler's soul" * "How to lose weight in five minutes without any exercise or dieting or illness" * Harry Potter I think we'll stick to computer books Anyway, our main reward is to hear good feedback about how the books are helping, so we really appreciate your comments! cheers, Kathy (and Bert), starving writers p.s. if you DO want to help, don't forget to tell Amazon or the O'Reilly reader review page
Kathy I am familiar with publishing industry and agree with you totally. I have the highest respect for you since you have been helping people around as much as you can towards beta exam. Almost each one of the member of this forum is a potential buyer of your forthcoming book and despite this you have offered so much of help towards the members succeeding in beta exams. We are priveleged and honored by your advice and contributions which are helping us so much. Thanks a million Kathy With best wishes
so how do I buy the book from Australia and New Zealand region? when will it be officially released? should I study for SCBCD now until the exam comes and then do it or study and do SCEA first then SCBCD?
Billy, do the SCBCD first. I was studying for the SCEA exam and diverted to the SCBCD beta. This will give you lots of knowledge about EJB's, which will be needed for SCEA. Just my opinion. Ray Gill - scjp, scwcd.

Amazon.com is taking pre-orders for Head First Ejb by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates. According to Amazon.com, this is (will be) published in September 2003. Barnes and Noble has similar information. I didn't find any mention of it on oreilly.com, bookpool.com or buy.com.
Howdy, The book is now on O'Reilly's site, and available through them and Amazon. I'm keeping a *very* low profile this month to finish it, and then I'll be here on this forum ALL THE TIME as the exam goes live cheers, Kathy get your Wickedly Smart and Head First T-shirts and gear...
