Took exam yesterday in Cambridge, UK. No technical problems except had to wait an hour because exam hadn't downloaded. This is second time this has happened to me - if you're on a tight schedule, I recommend calling ahead to test centre to make sure they are ready for you. Thanks to everyone who posted notes on what to study - they helped. Exam sticks very much to the objectives and the corresponding sections from the spec. No BMP questions, but it's not mentioned in objectives either. This was first beta I've been involved in. Only downside were all those people who claimed you had to take the test in first 10 days or so to make the 400. Since I wanted to prepare properly, this almost convinced me to return my voucher, and I suspect I wasn't the only one put off. As it turned out these people were completely WRONG and I'm glad I ignored them. Perhaps in future Sun could guarantee that if you have a voucher and have booked your test for within the specified period, then your score will count. The numbers could still be controlled by monitoring the number of booked tests and allowing for no-shows. This way you could attract more people actually interested in learning the material (and possibly giving better feedback) and not just those who can take the test in the first week. All in all though, a positive experience and pass or fail, I learned a lot about EJBs.
Gray Man, Nice to hear your opines. However, BMP is not in the exam objective and this was clearly stated by Kathy in this forums post that you could also found in my compilation of SCBCD Beta Exam Info and Mock Questions that people frequently noticed here. Regarding first 400, there could have been anything, and I am one of the eaerly rushers without adequate preparation for the exam. Yet like you, I also learnt during my preparation for this exam and still continuing after appearing the exam. Good luck.
I did read your notes - thanks for taking the time to document. I guess without the early takers we wouldn't have this info. From your notes, I knew there was no BMP in the exam, but wondered why as it is intrinsic part of EJB 2.0. I'd never hire a programmer who knew only CMP because there are too many situations it can't handle, so it seems a little strange someone can become a certified SCBCD without demonstrating knowledge of BMP.
You would be much easier to understand if you took that bucket off of your head. And that goes for the tiny ad too!
