Don't give up, if there's code for the book then it may be available at O'Reilly's web site (oreilly.com), or at Kathy & Bert's (wickedlysmart.com)

There wasn't a cd for Head First Java, so at least they're consistent. )

They are consistent with books that start with Head First. When it comes to certifications they are not. I want to know why?

It seems this book does not have a CD. But it includes over 200 mock exam questions that match the tone, style, difficulty, and topics on the real SCBCD exam.

does the mock exam has explanations? or you have to dig it from the book for answers?

I think so, Tse... I saw all of the questions in the sample chapters are answered later in the last part of the chapters...
If we have to dig the answers by ourselves, that would be very tired, I guess...

If you dont tire yourselves you wont be successful. Do you agree?

Why not? If I use some kinda books like SCWCD Exam Study Kit for SCWCD Certificaion and Head First EJB for SCBCD Certification, I will not be as tired as just reading the specs from Sun... Do u agree with that too?

Hi Alexandre,
Ah well, no CD. We talked about it, and we kind of answered this question on another post. We were very unhappy with the exam simulator we were forced to use for the SCJP book. So we've been negotiating with the publishers so that we can write our own engine. When we do write it, it will be available on the wickedlysmart website.
There are indeed over 200 mock questions in the book, and the answers usually include an explanation, and almost always include a reference to the spec. (We like this spec!)

To Kathy and Bert,
Will your new book cover everything necessary for this new exam? Or are there other recommended sources for preparation too? I've heard people say that the Hanumant book for the SCWCD exam was complete in itself, and got them through the exam with high scores. Is this book similar?
Thanks,

We are certain that the book covers everything necessary to pass the exam. We still recommend that you HAVE the spec (it's a free download), to refer to if you want to see *exactly* how it is stated in the specification, but even the spec is not needed if you have our book. We cannot guarantee that you'll get 100%, though but if you follow our instructions for how to USE the book (remember: it's not a book to be READ, but rather to be EXPERIENCED which means you have to do the exercises and other things to support really *learning*), you should be able to get a high score.
cheers,
Kathy

Howdy --
It's true that we aren't consistent between our SCJP book and this book, but we have a different publisher now, and a completely different format for the book. The CD would have raised the price, with less added value. As Bert said, we *are* going to be working on an exam simulator that will be online, but we don't have it yet.
cheers,
kathy

Thanks Kathy,
I agree. Being an active learner, for me, exercises are the best way to learn. I'm glad that's it's your philosophy too - the book should be good!
Cheers,

Kathy,
Is is like J2EECertificate.com? Even though that site is free, will yours be free for the owners of "Head First EJB"? If so, some kinda book registration will be needed...
