Howdy,
Welcome to the ranch!!
Yes the book does cover all of the exam topics, in detail matching what you need for the exam (in some cases more).
But no, it does not include a CD. We didn't want to raise the price, and there wasn't enough value in having a mock exam on the CD to justify the extra expense and delay in the book. We found that most people are *not* using the CD that is in our other exam book (although we have no control over what goes on the CD -- the publisher does that). And anyone taking the SCBCD has already become familiar with the exam software from taking the SCJP.
We are working on putting together some mock exam software for the website, but it will take some time to finish it and have it available.
All you need to work with the book is a pencil, J2SE (version 1.3 or greater, although 1.3 is the only one guaranteed by the EJB spec), and a download of J2EE 1.3. (NOT 1.4). Well, and a simple editor. Whatever you already use is fine.
cheers,
Kathy

After reading your book do we have to read the specifications or the book also covers it.
