I am also confused. The tutorial on EJB makes frequent mention about JSP clients of EJB Do we need to know JSP/Servlet before starting preparation for SCBCD?

It all depends on what *you* want to do.
Both exams are necessary, imho. However, you may wish to concentrate on just Servlets and JSPs and be an expert on the presentation layer. Or, you may choose to concentrate on EJB's and become an expert at the domain/business layer.
It's how you want to play it that counts. You can always find a job that utilises both set of skills.
You don't need to be SCWCD to become a SCBCD. The SCBCD exam makes no reference to Servlets/JSPs or any thing associated with that exam.

You can go for the IBM Enterprise Connectivity with J2EE. It includes JSP/Servlets, EJB, JMS, JAAS and more!
Plus there are special prices for the emerging nations

Hey Billy:

That's quite a list of certs you have. How long did it take you to get all those certs? I'm working on my third now. It would take me years to even get half as many as you. I have SCJP, SCWCD, and soon will have SCBCD. Do you find that having all those certs gives you an edge? What other benefits have you reaped as a result? What certs do you recommend that I persue after the SCBCD? What kind of work do you do? Has having all those certs helped you get better pay? better job? promotions?
Thanks,

L Singh
