Hello friends,
I have over 5 years experience in the IT industry starting from VB and ending up with J2EE technologies.
I only have one certification SCJP for 1.2.
I am currently confused because I am planning to take the SCBCD exam and I am not sure about what needs to be read and understood from the exam perspective.
Also I am also not sure if I am eligbile to give the exam since Sun certifications taken before August 2003 expire in two years. My SCJP certification according to that will expire in May 2004. I am not sure if I will be eligbile to give SCBCD if that happens unless I do a re-certification.
I am not in a mood to give SCJP recertification. Any suggestions and resources will be appreciated.
Amit Delve.
SCJP.

Hi Amit,

I am currently confused because I am planning to take the SCBCD exam and I am not sure about what needs to be read and understood from the exam perspective.

If you need a book, I definitely recommend Kathy and Bert's Head First EJB. It will be the only book you need to prepare for the exam.
If you dont want to buy a book, I guess you better read the EJB 2.0 specification, together with Valentin Crettaz's spec-objectives mapping.
You can find them from the SCBCD link: http://www.valoxo.ch/jr/SCBCD_Links.html

Also I am also not sure if I am eligbile to give the exam since Sun certifications taken before August 2003 expire in two years. My SCJP certification according to that will expire in May 2004. I am not sure if I will be eligbile to give SCBCD if that happens unless I do a re-certification.

SUN has changed its certification policy. You can re-request your certification kit that WITHOUT an expiry date.
Details can be refered to: http://suned.sun.com/US/certification/faq/#recert
Hope this help.
Nick.

Hey Nick,
So that means that, my certification never expires?
The card that SUN sends me is with the valid version number and other details and that I can pursue other certifications without any problems?
- Amit.

Hi Amit,
Said the FAQ said, you can re-request a certification kit that without an expiry date.
So, you can take any SUN exams you like at any time.
Nick.

Hi Amit,
The current SCBCD version is based on J2EE 1.3, i.e. EJB 2.0 ONLY.
No questions related to EJB 2.1 will be asked.
Nick.
